From oral to written: publication of the proceedings of the International Congress Sociocultural and legal aspects of FGM
Publications are a fundamental tool in the transmission and continuity of knowledge. For this reason, the contributions of 21 women who exposed at the International Congress Sociocultural and legal aspects of Female Genital Mutilation: Transnational experiences of prevention and protection, celebrated in Madrid during February 2017, under the MAP-FGM project, have been translated into paper.
This is the book of Proceedings of the first of four international academic congresses, available in spanish and english, whose publication was in charge of Dykinson editorial. The text, co-directed by Laura Nuño Gómez, of the Rey Juan Carlos University, and Adriana Kaplan Marcusán, director of the Wassu Foundation, is organized around two thematic axes that give rise to six chapters. The first axis addresses FGM/C from anthropology, the feminist interpretative framework and the legal aspects linked to the practice. The second axis focuses on the analysis of prevention and protection policies in Europe, Africa and, in particular, Spain.
